Lunatic Republicans in Congress are aiming for a government shutdown

Like petulant 2-year-olds throwing temper tantrums to get their way, the right-wing ideologues in the House and Senate are threatening to shut down the government if their latest attempt (number 42) to defund Obamacare fails.

These lunatics, who voted to cut $40 billion from the food stamp program when one in seven Americans depend on it, have no problem flushing $100 million a day of taxpayer money down the toilet to get their way—$100 million a day would be the cost of a government shutdown.

Even that big casino, Wall Street, isn’t cottoning to this threat and the Dow plunged nearly 200 points Friday.

The brainless Teapublicans who pollute Congress are on a bender to destroy every program that benefits the 99% while further stuffing the coffers of the 1%, not to mention stuffing their own pockets. But their groupies who fall into the 99% category can’t see how they’ve been taken to the cleaners by the likes of the Koch brothers and their ilk who fund the tea party.

Obamacare, formally known as the Affordable Care Act, is not what the people wanted (who listens to the people?) but it’s better than what they now have, if they have any health care insurance at all. The people wanted a universal single-payer system—an extension of Medicare—but the private insurance industry prevented that from happening.

It’s not enough that these adherents to the twisted philosophy of Ayn Rand want to destroy the 99% but want to hold them hostage while doing so, then hand them the bill to pay for their destruction.

It’s all about government of, by and for the 1%. Less for the 99% and more corporate welfare and tax breaks for the 1%. Somewhere there is a tipping point. It’s a matter of when, not if.
