On Sunday, Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, tried to divert attention from the latest email scandal showing that officers of the Democratic National Committee schemed to undermine the Bernie Sanders campaign.
To do this, Mook appears to have fabricated a scenario in which he claims Russia is behind the release of the emails in order to help Donald Trump.
The reason for this diversion is obvious, the Chair of the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, is resigning over the scandal, and she was supposed to preside over the convention all this week. The Democratic Party Convention is crashing and burning before it even begins to soar.
But what a wicked web Mook is weaving. He would have us believe we should not be concerned about the DNC officers who undermined the Sanders campaign, but instead about Russians who exposed this, working, says Mook, on behalf of the Trump campaign. The only thing missing is an Elvis Presley sighting.
To believe this crap, one must overlook the fact that the Russians are just as upset at Wikileaks as other nations, their having been outed in several reports by Wikileaks. It is absurd to believe that Wikileaks needs Russia to gather information for them, they have good hackers who’ve proven over the years that they can “go where no man has gone before,” as the Trekkies put it.
Mook appeared on CNN to blast the story that the Russians are exposing the emails in a partnership with Donald Trump, and CNN simply allowed the lie to be repeated again and again throughout the day. Mook said his sources were “experts,” and CNN’s Jake Tapper did not follow up, as a real (other than corporate viewpoint) journalist would do, asking the obvious, “Who are these alleged ‘experts?’”
We’ve seen “experts” claim ridiculous things in the political world, even denying theories based on substantial scientific evidence. The mainstream press should be pressing the Clinton campaign for facts to back up their charges, starting with asking who these “experts” are, followed by demanding that the “experts” provide evidence that the Russians exposed the DNC emails working with the Trump campaign. If the Clinton campaign can’t do this, they should be exposed as liars.
