Hey guys, size is not important

The mainstream media is trumpeting the “FACT” that North Korea has developed a miniature sized nuclear warhead that could be placed inside a missile.

Notice, please, that the use of the word fact is in quotes because this information has not yet been established as fact.

After getting everyone’s attention and ramping up the fear factor regarding North Korea’s evil intentions, we are eventually informed that it’s not believed that the capability of this weapon has yet been tested. The Washington Post revealed that the intelligence community is split as to whether or not North Korea has such a weapon.

Adm. Harry Harris, the head of the US Pacific Command (PACOM), during a June speech in Australia. “I know there’s some debate about the miniaturization advancements made by Pyongyang. But PACOM must be prepared to fight tonight, so I take him at his word. I must assume his claims are true—I know his aspirations certainly are”.

Exactly what are Kim Jong-un’s aspirations? Not many people realize that the Korean War never ended and that the US has as many as 27,000 troops stationed in South Korea along the 38th parallel which separates North from South Korea.

Not only are these troops there but they periodically hold military exercises that remind North Korea that they are still there.

This past Tuesday, merely to add insult to injury, the US flew 2 B-1B bombers over the Korean peninsula. The bombers flew out of Andersen Air Force Base in Guam as part of the US Air Force’s “continuous bomber presence,” according to a Pacific Air Forces spokesman. The bombers were joined by Japanese and South Korean aircraft during their mission.

US planes also flew, on August 8, from Guam and over South Korea staging a drill simulating an actual war. Am I imaging things but it appears that the US is being quite provocative.

Kim Jong-un has offered a proposal to the US that would achieve what the US claims are its goals. North Korea would put a halt to their nuclear development program if the US would stop their military exercises and withdraw those 27,000 troops from South Korea. Does it come as a surprise to anyone out there that the US rejected this proposal?

North Korea has consistently insisted that it needs these nuclear weapons as a defense against the US desires to overthrow the Kim government. We have only to look at Iraq where the US led the overthrow of the Saddam Hussein government; or in Libya, where Muammar Gaddafi gave up his nuclear program in order to have US sanctions against Libya dropped and found the US leading the fight to overthrow his government; or in Syria, where the US is attempting to overthrow Bashar al Assad’s democratically elected government; or in Venezuela where the US is supporting the overthrow of the democratically elected Maduro government.

Kim believes, and he has history to support such beliefs, that the only deterrent to US aggression in North Korea, is for him to have the capability to retaliate against the US.

While the US has portrayed him as “crazy” and unstable, it is not Kim Jong-un who is threatening to initiate the use of nuclear weapons, it is our “crazy” and unstable leader who occupies the Oval Office.

To quote President Trump, “North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States. They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen . . . he has been very threatening beyond a normal state. They will be met with fire, fury and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before.”

These are words similar to those used by then President Truman when he decided to drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki killing over 200,000 people immediately and leaving an environment that would result in thousands of Japanese people suffering and dying from the toxicity left by those bombs.

But, we are learning that it’s not the size of the nuclear bomb that matters, it’s the fear that the US establishment can generate among its people that will allow the US to attack North Korea.

I ask, who is really the “crazy,” unstable one?

Let’s be real, Trump is far from crazy. He is the newest implementer of the US imperialist agenda. You can find this agenda in a publication from 1997 called, “The Project for a New American Century” created by neocons, many of whom served in the George W. Bush administration.

If you can remember, it was this administration that created the 9/11 attacks and subsequently got the US into the many wars now raging in the Middle East.

Trump may be brusque, insulting, loud, etc., but he has a job to do and he is doing it well. He is doing nothing more than continuing the work of Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.
