It is upsetting and angering to see, time after time, so-called “leftists” refer to international banking with the name of the Rothschilds, a Jewish family.
Since the Rothschilds are only one of many international banksters, most of whom are not Jewish, I can only interpret that this reference is a denunciation of Jews as a whole, as a people.
One “comrade” even had the gall to state openly that it is the Zionists (Jews) who control international money, a claim that Adolph Hitler made in the 1930s, when he convinced the German people who were suffering economically that their suffering was at the hands of the Jews.
It has become clear to me that the references made to Zionists and the Rothschilds have become coded terms for anti-Jewish sentiments.
Let me make clear that I am not an apologist for either the Zionist movement or the Rothschilds. As far as I’m concerned, Israel has no right to exist as a Jewish state and I abhor what is being done to the Palestinian people. As I’ve stated on numerous occasions, Israel is making it difficult to be a Jew.
Israel is not about Jewishness, it is a political movement not a religious one and many Jews around the world do not support it.
Israel’s Donald Trump, known as Bibi Netanyahu, and the masses of racist Israelis have allowed for the anti-Semites to come out of their closets just as Donald Trump has signaled the white supremacists to come out of theirs. I find such thought process among my fellow “progressives” no different than that of Jews who stand with me on most social issues except when we talk about Israel. For these people, once Israel is mentioned, all rational thought stops (progressives except for Palestine).
As a response to this effort to stereotype all Jews as being wedded to money or supporting Zionism, I have listed a few Jews who have assumed a different type of life commitment. These are people most of you will recognize.
KARL MARX—Revolutionary, historian and economist Karl Marx published The Communist Manifesto, the most celebrated pamphlet in the socialist movement.
FRIEDRICH ENGELS—German socialist philosopher, the closest collaborator of Karl Marx in the foundation of modern communism. They coauthored The Communist Manifesto. He came from a privileged family but devoted his life to struggling for the poor and oppressed.
EMMA GOLDMAN—A major figure in the history of American radicalism and feminism. An influential and well-known anarchist of her day, Goldman was an early advocate of free speech, birth control, women’s equality and independence, and union organization.
VLADIMIR LENIN—Was the founder of the Russian Communist Party, leader of the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution, and the architect, builder, and first head of the Soviet Union.
ROSA LUXEMBURG—Polish-born German revolutionary and agitator who played a key role in the founding of the Polish Social Democratic Party and the Spartacus League, which grew into the Communist Party.
As an extra bonus, I have included the following bit of information. .THE YIDDISH RADIO STATION WEVD WAS NAMED IN HONOR OF EUGENE V. DEBS (EVD).
It should also be noted that many Jews were in the forefront of the labor movement of the 1930s and 1940s as well as in the development and organization of the Communist Party. Neither the Rothschilds nor the Zionists exemplify Jewishness.
To attempt to put all Jews in the same box, shows one’s ignorance of history and is nothing more than a racist exercise. Those who are participating in this action are being divisive and, as “progressives,” would probably rebel against those who attempted to stereotype Muslims, African-Americans, or Latinos.
Let’s keep our eyes on the prize, stopping US imperialism and overturning capitalism and not be diverted by nonsensical gibberish.
