The neocon/CIA-connected broadsheet serves Langley’s interests, supporting its involvement in the Trump regime’s coup plot to eliminate Bolivarian social democracy in Venezuela.
It published several anti-Bolivarian propaganda pieces by pseudo-journalist Francisco Toro. His Caracas Chronicles blog features disinformation, Big Lies and fake news on Venezuela.
Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) earlier exposed him, saying he’s “a fierce partisan in Venezuela’s heated political environment, a participant in anti-government protests who posts name-calling attacks on” Bolivarian officials.
“He describes himself as a ‘Venezuelan journalist opposed to’ Bolivarian governance, and has written frankly about what he perceives as his own inability to impartially report the news from Venezuela.”
“While all journalists have political opinions, Toro described himself as unable to put aside his strong feelings about [Chavistas] and cover [Venezuela] without prejudice.”
His credibility is sorely lacking, supporting imperial aims to eliminate Bolivarian social democracy he deplores.
In a mi-February WaPo piece, he lied claiming “Maduro is holding desperate Venezuelans hostage [for] refus[ing] to allow emergency shipments [sic] of [US] food and medicine [sic] to enter his country.”
In previous articles, I explained it’s out-of-date, tainted, and unsafe to use—so-called US “aid” a Trojan horse PR stunt unrelated to helping Venezuelans.
Maduro welcomed over a thousand tons of legitimate humanitarian aid from Russia, Cuba, and other nations. He rejects illegal US intervention in Venezuela.
Toro lied blaming Maduro for torching Trojan horse “aid” last month, anti-government guarimberos responsible for what happened—explained by the anti-Bolivarian NYT surprisingly, video footage setting the record straight.
He lied blaming Chavistas for violence instigated by US-supported anti-government thugs. He lied claiming “the official Venezuelan state devotes the bulk of its time and energy to stealing the nation’s oil resources and repressing its political opponents.”
His latest WaPo propaganda piece turned truth on its head, saying “Venezuela is truly on the verge of collapse”—falsely blaming Maduro for blackout conditions affecting much of the country, caused by multiple Trump regime cyberattacks, likely more to follow until the issue is fully resolved.
Toro ludicrously called the electrical outage “a final catastrophe.” He lied saying Venezuelans are “chronically hungry,” falsely claiming “food [is] in…short supply.”
He lied saying “stories coming out of hospitals up and down the country have been harrowing,” adding, “Thousands of kidney dialysis patients, unable to receive treatment, may face a slow and agonizing death”—another Big Lie.
Venezuelan Communication Minister Jorge Rodriguez called reports of dozens of deaths in hospitals because of power outage conditions “false.”
Backup generators are providing power for vital services. Maduro had them installed in all Venezuelan hospitals to maintain operations in case of power outages.
When the electrical grid was sabotaged last Thursday, backup generators were automatically activated, Rodriguez explaining:
“They [Trump regime hardliners] didn’t know we had a generator system set up to prevent from happening everything they are saying has happened.”
Claims of hospital deaths by Pompeo, Guaido, and Western media scoundrels are bald-faced Big Lies.
A Monday Caracas Chronicles disinformation piece turned truth on its head, saying claims about sabotage responsibility for blackout conditions are “propaganda,” adding. “People will die because of lack of basic services.” Deaths indeed occurred from US-orchestrated violence, not from lack of social services.
More of the same is virtually certain ahead as Trump regime hardliners escalate economic, financial, sanctions, and likely proxy hot war on ordinary Venezuelans—wanting Maduro blamed for their high crimes.
