We’re taking a holiday break

I am taking a break for the holidays and will resume publishing Intrepid Report on January 7, 2013.

As usual, I will be checking email, so writers are encouraged to submit articles that aren’t time sensitive.

I thank all our readers whose donations kept Intrepid Report publishing throughout 2012. We couldn’t have done it without your help.

It has been a turbulent year, to say the least, especially with the tragedy in Newtown, Conn., and the devastation of Superstorm Sandy. Our thoughts are with the victims and victims’ families.

However, it is incumbent upon us to reflect on who and what we are and think outside the box, not give in to knee-jerk reactions, if we are to prevent future Newtowns. We must face up to the effect our killing of innocent children, women and men abroad are having on our behavior at home. We must demand an end to wars and further military adventures. If we don’t, all the gun control laws and expanded mental health services won’t matter.

This holiday season, take a time-out with family and friends to renew yourselves for what is ahead, whether you celebrate Christmas, the Winter Solstice or Festivus. May 2013 be better for all than 2012.
